My name is Surenzh. I am a designer from Kyiv. I fell for this city when I was 15 and I started working as a designer to move there. My dream came true two years ago.

Before the war I enjoyed visiting exhibitions; learning new stuff in the design and tech fields; volunteering; taking part in competitions, challenges, poster campaigns; I was going to visit the first in my life design conference in May… I was pretty much enjoying living my life.

But now I’m 19 and I had to leave my home in Kyiv and everything that I worked for.
It breaks my heart to see the news about my home being destroyed. And I don’t really know if I’ll ever be able to come back, even though I really wish I could.

I fled back to my birthplace. But shortly after, missiles got to that town too, even though it is situated in the far west. That night I couldn’t sleep, that’s why I clearly saw the bright light from the explosion and heard its sound. And still, light flares sometimes haunt me and make me feel in danger although now I’m a refugee in a safer part of Ukraine.

The thought of coming back to Kyiv right now (even when it’s still dangerous) crawls inside my head but I try to step back and help with what I can do well from the rear. So now, I’m trying to volunteer as a designer as much as possible to spread awareness and create consolidating art that I can put my broken heart into.
